Ultrasound Services

Chest ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic modality which is used to assess the organs and structures within the chest, such as the lungs, mediastinum and pleural space. There are no risks involved as there is no radiation and is a painless test.

Thoracic Ultrasound services are rendered in the bronchoscopy suite. Thoracic ultrasound plays an important role in the diagnosis and management of patients with pleural and parenchymal pathologies. It serves as a point of care testing for diagnosing patients with pneumothorax, pleural effusions, pulmonary oedema and parenchymal consolidations and is useful in expediting the management of these patients.

Thoracic ultrasound plays a crucial role in diagnosing and differentiating types of effusion from pleural thickening. It also helps in the quantification of the effusion. Apart from diagnosis, the thoracic ultrasound is used for image guided procedures like ultrasound guided pleural fluid aspiration, closed pleural biopsies, image guided biopsies of lung masses.
