The MD Respiratory Medicine postgraduate program was established in 2011 under the affiliation of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, with an initial annual intake of two seats. In 2017, the intake capacity was expanded to four seats per year, reflecting the growth and academic strength of the program.
The training program offers comprehensive and rigorous hands-on exposure in the evaluation and management of a wide spectrum of respiratory diseases. Postgraduate trainees receive structured training in non-invasive ventilation, high-flow nasal oxygen therapy, invasive mechanical ventilation, high dependency unit (HDU) management, pleural procedures, diagnostic and interventional bronchoscopy, advanced pulmonary function testing, pulmonary rehabilitation and sleep medicine.
Since its inception, the program has trained 15 batches of postgraduates, many of whom are now well established across the country and are recognized for their excellence in clinical practice and patient-centred respiratory care.
